Being a Safety Leader at Entegro

This is reflective of our ethos at Entegro, where everyone is encouraged to be a leader every day and empowered to take ownership and embrace change and innovation when it comes to safety and beyond.

A safety leader is somebody who inspires others to do the same, these are people who not only follow safety protocols but influence others to work safely also. Anybody who demonstrates these behaviours can be a safety leader:

• Understanding and following safety procedures
• Reporting safety risks when they arise
• Proactively preventing safety concerns
• Implementing new processes to improve safety
• Encouraging others to take safety seriously
• Reporting accidents & incidents & near misses

Safety leaders do not necessarily have to be Managers. Anyone with a positive social influence over their peers and an interest in improving safety across the organization can be a leader in safety. Best safety leaders are people who help their peers improve without them even realizing it’s happening.

Entegro’s expansion over the last 4 years has seen an increase in both the number of employees, and subcontractors, and this has added complexity to our activities on-site and in the planning department.

Our Safety Team uses innovation to meet the ever-changing environment we operate in and develop skills that perhaps in the past have not been critical in the safety profession. By implementing low code automation to collect and analyse data, this enables us to identify unsafe work practices and support everyone in making better-informed decisions leading to a safer workplace.

And although automation and technological advancement are all around us, people are at the heart of everything we do. Having a purpose, feeling valued and safe in the workplace is what makes everyone perform better and be open to challenges and the ever-changing industry we operate in. With that in mind, one of our objectives in 2023 is to become a more sustainable business and thoughtful of how products and services can be delivered with the least impact on the ecosystem we operate in.
